A journal to document the building of our new blue pool. Why blue? I just love blue pools. It seems that everyone wants a lagoon or beach pool with rocks and natural-looking features and sandy entries. But I want a windex-blue, cheesy resort pool. Let's see what happens...

Stormy Weather
The clouds were fierce, but beautiful, so I wanted to share this afternoon thunderstorm.
This is another day, but we had lots and lots of rain and the pool was FULL. The water level is only about two inches below the pool deck.
See the white overflow pipe behind the triple Alexander palm behind the spa?
Here's a closer look, before we added more PVC piping to direct the flow over the seawall. Problem was that it burbled out (see right) and flooded this area and under the neighbor's side of the fence.
And a shot of the overflow from the cistern.
Love it when the cistern is full!
Fall Afternoons
The Tiki Hut is nearly done. This was a combined effort between my hubby and the dad next door. Still need to find thatching, but we're already using it and sharing the big grill and rotisserie.
Just sharing a few shots to see the varying pool colors and the landscaping filling in. I was able to make a dozen jars of Muscadine Grape jelly from the harvest off these vines. The beach sunflower underneath started to take over, so I was forced to pull all of it out and am now trying California Sunrose.
